As we enter another action-packed week of the ski season, the excitement across our favourite ski resorts in Australia and New Zealand continues to build. With fresh snow, fantastic events, and more terrain becoming accessible, there's something for everyone on the slopes. Whether you're chasing powder or enjoying the festive atmosphere, this week's blog has all the updates you need to make the most of your alpine adventures.
In Australia, our coverage includes Mount Buller, Falls Creek, Mount Hotham, Perisher, and Thredbo. Across the Tasman Sea, in New Zealand, we’re keeping a close eye on conditions at The Remarkables, Coronet Peak, Cardrona, Treble Cone, and Mount Hutt.

Mount Buller
This week, Mt Buller experienced a mix of great weather and exciting events. There was a beautiful display of the Aurora Australis, new runs opened, including Shakey Knees and Standard (for experienced riders only), and Grimus chairlift started operating, offering access to more terrain. The park setups continue to be a hit, with Skyline, Gliders, and Koflers offering various features for different skill levels. Fresh snow has also recently blessed the mountain, with 16cm falling, enhancing the overall skiing and snowboarding experience. Falls Creek
Falls Creek enjoyed a week of fresh snow and cold temperatures, allowing for 80+ hours of snowmaking. The Towers Chairlift is now operational, and the resort hosted snowboard demo days and a rail jam. Despite a temporary closure of the Toboggan Slope, conditions have been excellent, with hero snow on groomers and fresh turns available. The resort continues to offer a range of activities, including Twilight Tuesdays and the AUS Open Sprint Championship. Mount Hotham
Hotham had a bustling week with the opening of Blue Ribbon and Gotcha chairlifts. The resort hosted the Pirate Life Rail Jam, and the newly introduced P'ARC SESSIONS provided free park and freestyle progression sessions for women and non-binary individuals. The resort received 16cm of fresh snow, creating excellent conditions for skiing and snowboarding. Tobogganing remains a popular activity, especially for families with children. Thredbo
Thredbo kicked off the Thredbo Triple Crown series with a focus on rails. The resort reported dreamy conditions after a significant snowstorm, with 25cm of snow over the weekend and extensive snowmaking efforts. All parks are now open, and the resort continues to evolve its setups, with MOOKi's MiniPipe set to open soon. The highlight of the week was the visibility of the Aurora Australis from the mountain. Perisher enjoyed sunny weather and excellent conditions, with Piper Park opening for the winter season. The resort experienced a vibrant week, with bluebird days and a reported 10cm of fresh snow. The resort's interconnected areas, including Smiggin Holes, provide a variety of terrain for all skill levels. The Remarkables
The Remarkables received fresh snow, with 15cm falling earlier this week. The resort temporarily closed the Shadow Basin Chairlift to preserve snow conditions but promises excellent powder turns in other areas.
